Extended Day Care
The program
in which you have enrolled your child is Head Start with extended day care.
Families are eligible for this program because they are working or enrolled
in an approved education or training program. You have received a complete
handbook of Head Start Policies and Procedures, and with the exception of
hours of operation, all policies listed there apply. The following pages
outline additional information that you will need based on your extended day
needs.
Parent Involvement
We realize that
your work or education schedule will make it difficult for you to actively
participate in our daily program. You are always welcome to join us for
breakfast, lunch (please let us know ahead of time so that we have enough
food prepared) or at any other time to share in your child’s daily
experiences. We encourage you to come a little early or stay a little late
so that you can experience the classroom atmosphere.
We want to
maintain open communication with you so please let us know if
you have any questions, concerns, or special requests. Also, please keep us
informed of any changes in your home that may affect your child’s
feelings, attitudes, or behaviors. Any information we have will be kept
strictly confidential.
We encourage you
to attend parent meetings and assist in any projects we may have. We would
be grateful for in-kind donations of clothes or toys in good condition and
any other materials that you think will be useful. Please help yourself to
any in-kind items that your family can use.
